The Liberation of Holland

After the Liberation of France that began with D-Day, Canadians cleared the Scheldt estuary in Belgium and the Netherlands in October 1944. Canadians also liberated the eastern and northern Netherlands through the winter and spring of 1945. Total Canadian casualties in the Northwest Europe Campaign were 44,339, of which 11,336 were fatal.
