Telegram Confirming Flight Lieutenant Harry Wambolt's Death

This June 1917 telegram to Harry Wambolt's parents informed them that their son had been killed when his aircraft was shot down behind German lines.

Wambolt had been killed in combat with German aircraft on 4 March 1917, and his parents notified shortly afterwards that he had been reported missing. The arrival of this telegram and the subsequent letter put a tragic end to his parents' months of anxious waiting.
