For the second year in a row, the Canadian War Museum is proud to present the award-winning photographs from the prestigious World Press Photo Contest for press photography.
World Press Photo 09 consists of images of everyday life and headline news, including photographs captured during recent or ongoing conflicts. The latter build upon the Museum's displays of post-Cold War conflict and underlines how these events continue to shape our world.
A travelling exhibition that will be on display in more than 80 major world cities, World Press Photo 09 seeks “to encourage high professional standards in photojournalism and to promote a free and unrestricted exchange of information.” The prizewinning photographs and accompanying texts of World Press Photo 09 reflect the work of individual photojournalists from around the world.
World Press Photo 09 is sponsored worldwide by Canon and TNT.
This exhibition is developed and circulated by World Press Photo. The Canadian War Museum is one of two Canadian venues on the international tour.
