The Friends of the Canadian War Museum invites you to a commemoration.
The evening will appeal to an audience of music lovers and history enthusiasts alike. Vimy – A Commemoration in Words and Music will be hosted by celebrated CBC personality Lucy van Oldenbarneveld, and internationally renowned Canadian historian, Margaret MacMillan will set the scene of the Vimy battle. The main focus of the evening will be Canadian composer Andrew Ager’s The Unknown Soldier. This original oratory, performed by a combined choir with baritone soloist, Gary Dahl, and orchestra, under the direction of Andrew Ager, is an enlightened musical masterpiece. The commemoration will last 1 hour and 10 minutes and will include readings from letters written by soldiers of the Great War.

Come early to enjoy music by OrKidstra youth in the Lobby of the Museum.
A reception with light refreshments will follow the performance at approximately 8:15 p.m.
Guests will be able to visit the Museum’s exhibitions, including the new special exhibition Vimy – Beyond the Battle and Canadian Experience Gallery 2 – The South African and First World Wars, including new and updated Vimy materials.
