View of a Mohawk Indian Village

A Mohawk Community

This watercolour by a British military officer depicts a Mohawk settlement on the Grand River, Upper Canada. First Peoples, Anglophones, and Francophones lived alongside one another in Upper and Lower Canada. Members of all three groups worked together to defend Canada during the War of 1812.
