A resurgence of the Taliban in the spring and summer of 2006 led to extensive and sustained combat operations, unlike any seen by Canadian soldiers since the Korean War. The most intense fighting was in the Panjwai district, 25 kilometres from Kandahar, used by insurgents as a staging area for attacks on coalition forces. The Canadian Army was sent in the region since 2005.
Description
The Royal Canadian Legion has commissioned this satin nickel-plated die struck brass lapel pin with enamelled colour. The pin comes mounted on a gloss laminated display card and may be worn by anyone who wished to visibly commemorate the contribution and sacrifices made by our soldiers.
