- Additional Information General Motors of Canada built over 1,500 Fox Mk I armoured cars in Oshawa, Ontario between 1941 and 1943. When the Allies invaded Sicily in 1943, the 1st Canadian Division used Foxes as scout vehicles. But as the Allies fought their way up the Italian mainland, they replaced the Foxes with lighter, more manoeuvrable armoured cars.
