- Additional Information This vase was made from an 18-pounder shell, and is engraved with four Chinese characters, and "Vimy 1918." The translation reads "peace on heaven and earth." The engravings were likely completed by a Chinese labourer.

- Additional Information Workers of the Chinese Labour Corps handcrafted some of the most distinctive trench art. Decorated with butterflies, flowers, and other natural motifs typical of Chinese art, these British 18-pounder shell cases have also been scalloped, punched, and embossed. The Chinese characters read “Peace on Heaven and Earth.”
