- Inscription (obverse/avers): WAR OFFICE MEDICAL DIVISION SHELL DRESSING. TO OPEN Outer cover- Pull tapes apart. Inner Waterproof Cover - Tear apart the uncemented corners. DIRECTIONS FOR USE. Push the glass ampoule out of the tube. Hold it in a vertical position and strike the padded end downwards against some hard surface so as to break the end of the glass bulb contained within the pad. The iodine will at once saturate the pad, by means of which it should be freely applied to the wound and surrounding skin. Take folded ends of bandage in each hand, and keeping bandage taut, apply blue surface of pad to wound and fix bandage. DO NOT HANDLE WOUND OR BLUE SURFACE OF PAD. JOHN TYE & SON, LONDON.
