Canadian ships and naval personnel took part in operations in the Mediterranean Sea. These included convoy escort work, raids and amphibious landings in North Africa, Sicily, Italy, and the south of France.

Canadian Landing Craft, Īle du Levant

A Landing Craft, Mechanized (LCM) delivers a jeep and other equipment (left), while three Landing Craft Assault (LCA) carry less bulky cargoes (right). After delivering members of the joint Canadian-American 1st Special Service Force early in the morning of 15 August, Prince Henry's landing craft returned with these much-needed supplies and equipment. The photograph also emphasizes the island's rough terrain and the small, rocky landing beaches, which caused problems when unloading supplies and personnel.
