HMCS Montréal

This photograph shows the frigate Montréal after it has been fitted with weapons, electronic systems, and other equipment.

The Halifax class frigates reflect the increasing capability of warships to avoid attacks by becoming harder to detect. Part of the ship's design includes measures to significantly reduce its radar cross-section, a measure of how easily objects can be detected by radar. Square corners, have been avoided while the gun turret (right) is shielded in plastic.
