Model, HMCS Mackenzie

HMCS Mackenzie was the first ship of a group of four destroyers built for the Royal Canadian Navy in the late 1950s and early 1960s.

Delivered in the early 1960s, the Mackenzie class destroyers were visually similar to earlier vessels. Two mountings (left and centre right) held guns to engage aircraft or surface targets. Much of the after deck (right) was taken up with retractable covers for the ship's Limbo anti-submarine mortars. A variety of radars (top centre) could detect aircraft and surface ships, while domes (lower left) held sonar equipment for detecting submarines.
