SOLD OUT

Join award-winning historians Dr. Tim Cook and Dr. Jeff Noakes for a lecture and discussion about the commemoration and legacy of the D-Day landings and the Normandy Campaign.

Dr. Jeff Noakes will present the history of the D-Day landings and the Normandy Campaign through a selection of artifacts from the collections of the Canadian War Museum. These will range from photographs and letters, to works of art and even tanks.

Dr. Tim Cook will explore the memory of Canada’s D-Day over the past 75 years. Today, this iconic event is both celebrated and commemorated, but for many decades it was pushed to the periphery — little marked, and even ignored. By examining how Canadians have commemorated D-Day, Dr. Cook will explore the evolving social memory of Canada’s Second World War.
