The Canadian War Museum is proud to host a live interview with Sergeant (Ret’d) Wendy Jocko, Chief of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.

Chief Jocko will reflect on her family tradition of military service, her 23-year career with the Canadian Armed Forces and the path she has taken since retiring from the military.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Andrew Burtch, Historian, Post-1945 at the Canadian War Museum. The interview will be followed by a short audience Q&A. This 45-minute event is suitable for teachers, students and the general public. Participation is free, but registration is required.

Biography

Sergeant (Ret’d) Wendy Jocko, Chief of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation
Wendy-Anne Jocko was born on February 2, 1960, and is the daughter of Leo Jocko and Williamina McKay. She has four children and four grandchildren (with twin grandchildren on the way). Wendy returned to Pikwakanagan in 1996 with her four children when she was posted to Garrison Petawawa. From 1979 to 2002, Wendy was a member of the Canadian Forces, where she served as a Supply Technician. In 2020, she was elected Chief of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation.
