Canadian War Museum to webcast illumination in Memorial Hall

October 30, 2012

Ottawa, Ontario, October 30, 2012—The Canadian War Museum invites all Canadians to participate in one of the most moving Remembrance Day ceremonies in Canada. On November 11 at exactly 11 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, sunlight shines through a single window in the War Museum’s Memorial Hall to illuminate the headstone of Canada’s Unknown Soldier. For the second year in a row, this event will be webcast on the War Museum website, allowing Canadians to experience it from anywhere in the country.

Anyone wishing to see the event should visit https://www.warmuseum.ca/remember starting at 10:45 a.m. Eastern Standard Time. The illumination will also be webcast on screens within the Museum. A limited number of tickets for access to Memorial Hall itself will be made available to Museum visitors starting at 9 a.m. on November 11.

This event is just one of many taking place at the Canadian War Museum throughout the month of November to mark Remembrance Day. For more information on these events, please visit www.warmuseum.ca/remember.

The Canadian War Museum is Canada’s national museum of military history. Its mission is to promote public understanding of Canada’s military history in its personal, national, and international dimensions.
