Alphonse Snob was born in Masham, Quebec, in 1896.

On his enlistment forms, Snob stated that his pre-war trade was “traveler”. He joined the 57th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Canadien-Français) in Hull, Quebec, on 18 February 1916. Snob sailed to England with his unit on SS Olympic, embarking in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on 2 June 1916. Upon its arrival in Liverpool on 8 June 1916, the 57th Battalion’s personnel was absorbed by the 69th Canadian Infantry Battalion (French Canadian). That battalion provided reinforcements to units already in France, in particular the 22nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (French Canadian).

Snob was transferred to the 22nd Battalion in October 1916 and joined the unit in the field later that month. He was killed in action in France on 10 August 1918, at the Battle of Amiens, during the Hundred Days Offensive.

Alphonse Snob is buried in Caix British Cemetery, in France.
