Constant Olivier was born in Antwerp, Belgium, on 8 September 1886.

A mechanic, Olivier enlisted in the 167th Canadian Infantry Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, in Montréal, Quebec, on 27 November 1916. He arrived in England on 7 April 1917 and was assigned to the 10th Reserve Battalion. On 25 July 1917, he was appointed an acting lance corporal. Four months later, he reverted to the rank of private.

On 23 November 1917, Olivier was assigned to the 22nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (French Canadian), and he joined that unit in France five days later. He was killed by machine gun fire some 460 metres east of Chilly, France, on 15 August 1918, while the 22nd Battalion consolidated its position after the first phase of the Hundred Days Offensive.

Constant Olivier is buried in Vrély Communal Cemetery Extension, in France.
