Joseph Alexander Vachon was born in Inverness, Quebec, on 22 August 1882.

A farmer, Vachon enlisted in the th Canadian Infantry Battalion (90th Rifles) in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on 21 December 1914. He had previously served in the Royal Canadian Regiment.

Vachon was shot and killed on the night of 31 December 1915, while going out to a listening post forward of the 8th Battalion’s trenches.

Joseph Alexander Vachon was buried in the Rosenberg Chateau Military Cemetery, in Belgium. In 1930, all the graves from that cemetery were moved to Berks Cemetery Extension, in Belgium.
