Nichola Sredanowch was born in what is now Nikšic, Montenegro, on 27 April 1885.

He stated that he was a bushman when he enlisted in the 141st Canadian Infantry Battalion in Fort Frances, Ontario, on 4 December 1916. He was later transferred to the 44th Canadian Infantry Battalion.

Sredanowch was killed in action on 22 August 1917, as his unit prepared to attack German positions on Green Crassier, a slag heap northwest of Lens Canal. His body was lost. Part of the Battle of Hill 70, the battalion’s attack on Green Crassier, launched on 23 August, ultimately failed in the face of determined resistance from the German defenders.

Nichola Sredanowch is commemorated on the Canadian National Vimy Memorial, on Vimy Ridge, in France.
