Tecumseh

Tecumseh, who assumed that the British would conquer the United States, argued in favour of joining the war alongside them. He quickly became the best-known military leader among the nations of Tenskwatawa’s coalition.

“Here is a chance presented … for us Indians of North America to form ourselves into one great combination, and cast our lot with the British in this war; and should they conquer and again get the mastery of the whole of North America, our rights … would be respected by the King.”

— Tecumseh, 1812
