Canadian artistForster, Michael (1907-2002)
In 1943 following his studies with British First World War artists Bernard Meninsky and William Roberts, the National Gallery of Canada gave Forster a commission to depict the Merchant Navy. From 1944 to 1946, he was an official war artist with the RCNVR. After the war, Forster painted in Montreal, Mexico, and England. The artworks in this exhibition
