Careless Words may cause Disaster!
Careless Words may cause Disaster!

In this wartime security poster, a sailor (right) urges silence as a torpedo streaks towards a ship in a convoy (left).

Produced in 1941 or 1942, the poster draws a direct link between discussing sensitive information and the danger of German attacks on Allied ships. A number of wartime posters encouraged Canadians not to talk about naval operations or the arrival and departure of ships, for fear that the enemy might obtain this information and use it against Allied forces.
