ON THE BEACHES
Flight Lieutenant Harper of Niagara Falls, Ontario, landed at Juno Beach with the Canadians on D-Day and had his radar up and running within eight hours. Another radar detachment, whose senior technician was Flight Sergeant M. Adair, RCAF, of Langley, B.C. landed on Omaha Beach with the Americans. They sustained nearly 50 casualties from enemy fire. Both F/Lt. Harper and Flight Sergeant Adair received the Croix de Guerre from the French government for their bravery.
