Travel back to the Second World War and experience the amazing true story of John Weir Foote in this play written and performed by Marc Moir. In this dramatic performance, Moir shares Foote’s experiences of the disastrous raid on the beaches of Dieppe and the three years he spent as a prisoner of war.

Let singer and flutist Gertrude Létourneau carry you away in this heartfelt musical tribute to Canadian military families. Accompanied by guitarist Garry Elliot and trumpet player Don Paterson, Létourneau performs songs from 1930–1950, evoking the sense of hope and sorrow felt by the wives of soldiers who served in the Second World War.

Inspired by the poem “In Flanders Fields,” the poppy is the official symbol of remembrance. In your personal act of remembrance, decorate a poppy and add it to a wreath, to be displayed outside of Memorial Hall.

Design and create a souvenir pin-back button in memory of one of the war’s key players. Draw inspiration from the decorative buttons, coins and medals you see in the exhibition 1812.

On Remembrance Day, at exactly 11 a.m., sunlight shines through a single window in Memorial Hall to frame the headstone representing Canada’s Unknown Soldier. A limited number of free tickets will be available as of 9 a.m. at the Information Desk. No reservations are permitted.

Staff from the Canadian Agency of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission will help you access the Debt of Honour Register and search for their location of commemoration.
