RADAR-CONTROLLED BOMBING
An all-weather system called OBOE enabled radar ground stations in Great Britain to guide Allied bomber aircraft on missions over continental Europe. One transmitter would guide the pilot, while another station would indicate when the aircraft was directly over its intended target. This more precise navigational aid enabled bombers to destroy smaller, more specific targets such as the suspected launch sites for enemy rockets.
