Canvas of War [ Home ]Masterpieces from the Canadian War Museum

On Monday, July 26, 1999, five large plaster sculptures were transported from the Canadian War Museum to the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) for restoration work. They were created by renowned Canadian sculptor Walter S. Allward over 70 years ago as maquettes for the Vimy Memorial in France, which commemorates Canada's enormous sacrifices in the First World War. They are showcased in the exhibition.
