7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Barney Danson Theatre
In keeping with the 95th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge, the Museum will be hosting the launch of a new book that tells the story of the Vimy
Monument. So much is known about the battle, but very little about this iconic memorial. Co-authors Julian Smith, renowned conservation architect, and Jacqueline Hucker, cultural historian, played a significant role in the restoration of the monument, newly unveiled in 2007. In their book, the story of the monument from its initial winning design in the 1920’s to its restoration is told in fascinating detail, coupled with many historic and full colour photos. Be sure to attend this event for a new understanding of one of Canada’s most striking and beautiful memorials.
