Albert Niven Parker Service was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on 2 October 1893.

A banker, Service enlisted in the 66th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Edmonton, Alberta, on 29 June 1915. He became a lieutenant on 11 December 1915.

Stationed in England, Service was transferred to the 52nd Canadian Infantry Battalion (New Ontario) before being sent to France on 2 July 1916. He was killed by shelling on 18 August 1916, when the 52nd Battalion was occupying front-line trenches at Hill 60, near Zillebeke, Belgium.

Albert Niven Parker Service is buried in Railway Dugouts Burial Ground (Transport Farm), in Belgium.
