Harry Marshall Tuck was born in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, on 22 March 1893. He was the son of Marshall and Margaret Tuck.

A liveryman (employee of a stable where horses and carriages could be hired), Tuck enlisted in the 184th Canadian Infantry Battalion in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on 28 March 1916. He was later transferred to the 78th Canadian Infantry Battalion (Winnipeg Grenadiers).

Tuck was killed in action on 23 February 1917 near Souchez, France. According to the 78th Battalion’s war diary, that day was “[d]ull, misty and damp.” It was also “very quiet”, except at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m., when the Germans launched two “intense” half-hour artillery bombardments on the trenches the battalion was occupying. It is not known which bombardment killed Tuck.

Harry Marshall Tuck is buried in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France.
