Harry Redmond Wambolt was born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, on 4 April 1892. He was the son of Richard and Emma Wambolt.

Wambolt began active service as a pilot in the Royal Naval Air Service on 2 June 1916. In the summer of 1916, he flew fighting and reconnaissance patrols over Belgium and France, from Dunkirk, France.

Wambolt died on 4 March 1917 after engaging in close aerial combat with two German aircraft.

Harry Redmond Wambolt is buried in the Honourable Artillery Company Cemetery, Écoust-Saint-Mein, France.
