Victory Gardens
Cultivate a love of gardening. The Canadian War Museum will provide the materials and the know-how to plant a seed and watch it grow. Continue the project at home by starting your own “Victory Garden” in a pot, in your backyard or in a community garden.
In conjunction with the special exhibition New Brunswickers in Wartime, 1914 – 1946
In partnership with the Ottawa Children’s Garden
During the First and Second World Wars families on the Home Front were encouraged to plant “Victory Gardens” and grow and preserve their own fruits and vegetables. In addition to rationing this helped send more food to troops and allies overseas.
