Description of role:
Want to play video games and earn volunteer hours while you do it? Join our virtual Youth Playtest Volunteer Team this fall and support the Canadian War Museum and Sheridan College in evaluating our brand-new online game! You’ll play games, share feedback, and explore how games can bring history to life. Are you interested in being part of a project which is looking to transform history into an interactive, teen-focused experience? From anywhere in Canada, youth between the ages of 14–17 can join the Canadian War Museum and Sheridan College as a Youth Playtest Volunteer. We are looking for a broad range of people, backgrounds, and experiences.
You will attend virtual sessions and volunteer your time by playing, reflecting on, and evaluating a new video game being developed. The goal of the prototype game in development is to help connect youth to the human experience of war and Canada’s contributions to the Second World War. Your feedback will help shape the Museum’s new digital projects and give you a hands-on, one-of-a-kind volunteering experience.
Youth Volunteers will be advising, playing, and shaping the experience, not developing the game yourself. The feedback you provide will directly influence both the Canadian War Museum and Sheridan College’s projects and will help these organizations understand how teens experience digital history content.
Responsibilities:
Volunteers may be asked to support any of the following tasks:
- Commit to, and attend, virtual meetings.
- Play and give feedback on digital games.

- Friendly, reliable, and proactive; able to listen and respond thoughtfully.
- Clear oral communication in English or French (sessions conducted in one language per group).
- Ability to provide constructive feedback and share ideas confidently.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Youth aged 14–17.
- Open to: Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

- Parents or guardians are welcome to listen in on sessions, but are asked not to interfere with the feedback their child is providing us. Our intention is to gain an understanding of youth perspectives regarding the game in development.
- This is a remote volunteering opportunity for youth that will be held online so youth can join from anywhere in Canada!
- Participants must have a stable internet connection and access to a device capable of playing digital games in a Windows or Mac browser.
- Sessions will take place September 14, 21, 25 and October 5, 2026.
