Introduced during the Cold War, the M113A2 TOW Under Armour (TUA) was intended to counter Warsaw Pact armoured vehicles.
The TUA used a Norwegian-designed turret equipped with two TOW (Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided) missile launchers that could be loaded and fired from inside the armoured vehicle.
The Royal Canadian Regiment and the Royal 22e Régiment used this vehicle in West Germany. From 1992 to 2002, Canadian units also used this vehicle to support United Nations and NATO missions in Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
