On July 9, a national apology by the Government of Canada will be made to the relatives and descendants of members of the No. 2 Construction Battalion, which served with distinction during the First World War.

The Black Cultural Centre for Nova Scotia, in collaboration with the Department of National Defence, is hosting a ceremony in Truro, Nova Scotia, in honour and remembrance of the No. 2 Construction Battalion.

Join us at the Canadian War Museum to watch a live stream of the ceremony and apology. While at the Museum, take an opportunity to visit the special exhibition, A Community at War – The Military Service of Black Canadians of the Niagara Region. This panel exhibition, presented in partnership with the Niagara Military Museum, highlights the service and sacrifice of 22 Black men and women from the Niagara region and Southwestern Ontario, from the American Revolution to the present day.
