As the world marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, the Canadian War Museum is looking back even further to April 22, 1915, and Canada’s baptism by fire at Ypres.

This special event features a screening of Ways We Remember War: The Second Battle of Ypres and Canada’s Memory, along with a panel discussion on remembrance and the roles played by art, literature and pilgrimage.

Ways We Remember War follows two Canadian artists through Ypres, and marks centenary commemorations in 2015 with two Canadian regiments. Veterans, artists, guides, curators and historians — including the War Museum’s Stacey Barker and Tim Cook — also share insights on interpretations of the battle over the past 110 years, and its enduring significance.
