Location and Directions
The Canadian War Museum is located at 1 Vimy Place, on LeBreton Flats, at the corner of Booth Street and the Sir John A. MacDonald Parkway, west of Parliament Hill. The Museum is easily accessible from downtown Ottawa by foot, bicycle, public transit or car and offers on-site parking.
Ongoing Road Closures
The Chaudière Bridge and a portion of Booth Street are currently closed for rehabilitation work. The Canadian War Museum and its parking garage remain open to the public.
Vehicles can access the Museum from the Sir John A MacDonald Parkway, both east-bound and west-bound, using Vimy Place.
Visitors may also access the museum via Northbound Booth and a left turn onto Vimy Place.

Many special events (Races, charity walks, etc) take place on the Sir John A MacDonald parkway and traffic detours may be in place. The Canadian War Museum and its parking garage remain open during all special events.
When trying to reach the Museum by car during a special event, you may encounter a detour or road closure. On-site volunteers and police will provide instructions on how to access the Museum by car.
Sunday Bike Days
Roads around the Canadian War Museum are closed on Sundays starting May 19 for the NOKIA Sunday Bike Days between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Canadian War Museum and its parking garage remain open to the public.
Although there are road closures in place at Booth St. and the Sir John A MacDonald parkway during Sunday Bike Days, visitors attempting to reach the Museum by car can request access with the police officer stationed on site.
In addition, we encourage visitors to park nearby, take public transportation or access the Museum on foot or bike.
