CEO Corner: Dare to inspire tomorrow’s history

It has been two years since we launched our vision, “Dare to inspire tomorrow’s history,” and as I reflect on the programming and exhibitions from this past summer and fall, I feel more connected to that vision than ever.

We have introduced exciting programming that reaches new audiences, including the Seniors History Social at the Canadian War Museum, Coffee With Curators, the World at War Speaker Series, the Made in Canada film series, and the Canadian War Museum Conference 2025: Oral History and the Veterans’ Experience. Each program presents history in compelling ways, encouraging reflection, sparking dialogue, and helping audiences see how the past shapes the present and can inspire us to shape our future. These meaningful initiatives are made possible thanks to the generosity of our supporters, and in turn, we are proud to honour their commitment in lasting and meaningful ways. This year, at the Canadian War Museum, we marked that commitment by naming two important spaces. Through the continued support of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires, the passageway leading to LeBreton Gallery proudly retains the name Commissionaires Way. In addition, the new Colwell Atelier was named in recognition of Brigadier-General (Ret’d) Linda Colwell’s distinguished career and ongoing volunteerism. We are grateful to her family and friends, as well as Commissionaires Ottawa, for supporting this special tribute. Together, these spaces stand as enduring reminders of the deep bonds our donors share with the Museums and the stories we tell.
