Ottawa, Ontario, June 27, 2016 — The Canadian War Museum is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Peter MacLeod as Director of Research at the Canadian War Museum. Dr. MacLeod is currently the Museum’s Pre-Confederation Historian.
Since joining the War Museum in 2001, Dr. MacLeod has made many important contributions. He has also curated several special exhibitions, including Clash of Empires: The War That Made Canada, 1754–1763, 1759–2009: The Battle of the Plains of Abraham, and the award-winning exhibition 1812. Most recently, he was the Museum’s in-house curator for Gladiators and the Colosseum – Death and Glory.
“We are so very pleased that Dr. MacLeod has taken on the important role of Director of Research,” said Stephen Quick, the Museum’s Director General. “He brings to the position a wealth of experience and a sterling reputation as a scholar, curator and author.”
Dr. Peter MacLeod is the author of four books, including Northern Armageddon: The Battle of the Plains of Abraham and The Canadian Iroquois and the Seven Years’ War. His latest book — Backs to the Wall: The Battle of Sainte-Foy and the Conquest of Canada — will be released by Douglas & McIntyre in September 2016.
Dr. MacLeod is a graduate of the University of Toronto, the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Ottawa, where he earned his PhD in History in 1991.
