February 24, 2022

Gatineau, Quebec, February 24, 2022 — The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum will reopen their doors to the public on Saturday, February 26. We look forward to welcoming you back!

As of Saturday, the Museums will be open Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and until 7 p.m. on Thursdays. In accordance with recent provincial government guidelines, the public will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination to access the War Museum, effective March 1. The Museum of History will also cease requiring proof of vaccination to access its facilities as of March 14. To ensure the safety and comfort of our employees and visitors, the Museums will continue to require that all visitors and staff wear masks and follow physical distancing guidelines. We are also keeping our current reduced capacity limits and timed ticketing in place until further notice.

Visitors to the Canadian Museum of History will be able to view the special exhibition Lost Liberties – The War Measures Act, which explores the suspension of civil liberties in Canada during the First World War, the Second World War, and the 1970 October Crisis, and sheds new light on the enduring impact of the Act on Canada and its people. At the Canadian War Museum visitors can explore the new panel exhibition, A Community at War – The Military Service of Black Canadians of the Niagara Region. The exhibition highlights the experiences of 22 Black men and women from the Niagara region and Southwestern Ontario, from the American Revolution to the present day.

To ensure a safe and memorable experience for all, a number of safety measures are in place. Book your timed admission ticket online before you visit, at historymuseum.ca or at warmuseum.ca.
