Hours of Operation
The Military History Research Centre (MHRC) is open by appointment on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. If consulting archival material, appointments must be made at least one week in advance, while Library appointments require at least 72 hours notice. To ensure availability, we recommend booking your appointment at least two weeks in advance.
Visits to the MHRC are free of charge and do not require a Museum entrance ticket.
To book an appointment, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The public has access to the Library collection and can browse and consult materials on site. Books in the Rare Book Vault can be retrieved by a staff member upon request. It is recommended that visitors arrive with the list of resources they wish to consult, or send a list ahead of time, so that resources can be pulled and prepared for their visit. Staff can assist in identifying materials upon request.
Although the Library collection is non-circulating, books may be available through inter-library loan.
Researchers can consult archival material upon request. However, we require that the list of resources they wish to consult be sent at least one week in advance, to allow staff the opportunity to pull and prepare the documents. Staff can assist in identifying materials that may be relevant and useful to visitors’ research.
Please note that not all materials may be available upon request as they may be on loan, in an exhibition, in digitization, or in some cases, withheld due to conservation concerns.
Please consult our Research Facilities and Services page for details and policies regarding consulting the collection during your visit.
