Gatineau, Quebec, December 21, 2022 — The Canadian Museum of History, which includes the Canadian War Museum, is pleased to welcome Nicolas Marcotte to its Board of Trustees. Mr. Marcotte’s appointment was announced by the Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage, following a rigorous selection process.

“I look forward to working with Mr. Marcotte, who brings an expertise in inclusive leadership, business acumen in support of sustainability, and experience in strategic development, to help guide the Museums as a member of the Board,” said Carole Beaulieu, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “Mr. Marcotte’s focus on fostering diversity and inclusion, and his experience with veterans’ organizations, make him a unique asset to the Board of Trustees.”

Mr. Marcotte, an officer of the Royal Canadian Navy, has extensive experience in the business world, with a focus on inclusive leadership, change management, diversity, equity, inclusion, and corporate social responsibility. A recipient of the “Diversity 50” award with the Canadian Board Diversity Council in 2015, Mr. Marcotte is of Métis Nipissing ascendance, and lives in the greater Montréal region. He has been a supporter of veterans’ causes, working with organizations such as the Last Post Fund and the National Field of Honour.

Engineer and entrepreneur, he has served on boards for several profit and non-profit organizations, where he has used his skills in engineering, accounting, information technology, finance, risk management, financing, mergers and acquisitions, strategy, and governance. He has worked in a number of industries including defense, infrastructure, environment, and health and safety. He currently works for Strategor, a strategy consulting firm, where he serves as President.

Mr. Marcotte has been appointed to the Board for a four-year term, effective immediately. The 11-member Board of Trustees oversees operations of the Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum — Canada’s national museums of human and military history.

The Canadian Museum of History operates the Canadian Museum of History, the Canadian War Museum, and the Virtual Museum of New France. Together, these Museums function as centres for research and public information on the history of Canada. Their principal role is to enhance Canadians’ knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the events, experiences, people and objects that have shaped Canada’s history and identity. Work of the Canadian Museum of History is made possible in part through financial support of the Government of Canada.
