The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum are going completely smoke-free

May 29, 2019

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
For Immediate Release

Gatineau, Quebec, May 29, 2019 — The Canadian Museum of History and the Canadian War Museum will be going completely smoke-free. On June 1, 2019, all exterior grounds that are Museums property will become non-smoking areas. Designed to make outdoor public spaces at both Museums healthier for all, the new policy applies to anyone on the premises.

The non-smoking area will be clearly indicated at both Museums. The smoke-free policy applies to all smoking-related products, including e-cigarettes, cigars, tobacco and tobacco derivatives, cannabis and cannabis derivatives, and any other such substances.

This new initiative is designed to keep both Museums and their grounds clean, safe and inviting for visitors — particularly for family groups — and to reflect similar policies being enacted at public institutions throughout the country.
