History Social invites you to be part of a daytime series that connects you with the people, stories, and behind-the-scenes work that bring the Museum to life.
Each session offers an engaging presentation, followed by an audience Q&A and relaxed social time over coffee and conversation. It’s an inviting way to explore new ideas, ask questions, and connect more deeply with the Museum in an informal setting.
We hope you can join us for History Social and be part of a warm, lively exchange that sparks curiosity and deepens your connection to the Museum.
History Social is a wellness series for older adults in the region developed by the Canadian War Museum in collaboration with The Royal.

Dr. Teresa Iacobelli, Historian, First World War
Greetings From the Front: Postcards of the First World War
What can a simple postcard reveal about life during the First World War?
Join Teresa Iacobelli, Historian, First World War, as she explores how postcards helped maintain connections between soldiers, nurses, medical staff and loved ones during one of the most challenging periods in modern history. Inexpensive and widely accessible, postcards became a vital means of communication across social classes, with millions exchanged throughout the conflict.
Drawing on examples from the Canadian War Museum’s collection, Teresa will reveal the many forms these postcards took and how they created shared experiences between the battlefields of Europe and the home front. Discover how these small but powerful artifacts offer personal insights into wartime relationships, emotions and everyday life, helping us better understand the human experience of war.
