History Social invites you to be part of a daytime series that connects you with the people, stories, and behind-the-scenes work that bring the Museum to life.
Each session offers an engaging presentation, followed by an audience Q&A and relaxed social time over coffee and conversation. It’s an inviting way to explore new ideas, ask questions, and connect more deeply with the Museum in an informal setting.
We hope you can join us for History Social and be part of a warm, lively exchange that sparks curiosity and deepens your connection to the Museum.
History Social is a wellness series for older adults in the region developed by the Canadian War Museum in collaboration with The Royal.

Beading as Resistance
Join Danielle Teillet, a Red River Métis/settler from Winnipeg, citizen of the Manitoba Métis Federation, passionate beader, and the Canadian War Museum’s Historian of Indigenous Military History, for an engaging daytime program exploring beadwork as cultural expression, storytelling and resistance. The event begins with a guided visit to the Métis Resistance zone in Close to Conflict – Canada and the American Civil War, followed by a short talk on the history, meaning and contemporary resurgence of Métis beadwork. Participants are then invited to stay for an optional beginner-friendly hands-on beading workshop introducing basic techniques and reflecting on Indigenous resilience through art.
Presented in English with simultaneous translation via Wordly.
