Each session offers an engaging presentation, followed by an audience Q&A and relaxed social time over coffee and conversation. It’s an inviting way to explore new ideas, ask questions, and connect more deeply with the Museum in an informal setting.

History Social is a wellness series for older adults in the region developed by the Canadian War Museum in collaboration with The Royal.

A Musical Tour of Close to Conflict – Canada and the American Civil War
Join Tim Foran, Exhibition Curator and the Canadian War Museum’s Historian of Early Canada, for a guided journey into the music of the American Civil War, Reconstruction, and Confederation. Beginning with a brief introduction, Dr. Foran explores how music inspired, comforted, and united people on both sides of the border — in the United States and in Canada. As you move through the exhibition, he shares the stories behind the songs and performs select pieces, bringing history vividly to life. This immersive tour blends storytelling, music and a smattering of poetry for a rich, memorable experience of the era.
