3. Scope of Work

The following describes the anticipated scope of work for the artist or collective.

  1. Artists will be given funding to cover 12 weeks of working time, to be conducted off site at a location of their choosing, within the 20-week period between December 1, 2023 and April 26, 2024.
  2. The artist or collective will produce one or more finished work(s) to be included in the final zone of the exhibition, Outside the Lines. This will include the following deliverables:
    1. Presentation of a preliminary concept no later than February 15, 2024.
    2. Presentation of a final concept no later than March 8, 2024.
    3. Completion of the final work and delivery to the Museum no later than April 26, 2024.
  3. The artist, team leader, or members of the collective will make up to two site visits to Ottawa to meet with the exhibition team and explore the collections of the Canadian War Museum (a travel budget is provided as part of the Residency fee).
  4. The artist, team leader, or members of the collective will attend the exhibition opening on May 23, 2024 (a travel budget is provided as part of the Residency fee).
  5. The artist or collective will participate in short video segments created by the Museum to capture the Residency experience. These clips will be included in the exhibition and on the Museum’s social media channels.
  6. The artist or collective will collaborate with the Museum’s exhibition team to write all text and labels associated with the created artwork(s), following the parameters of the text strategy established for the exhibition.
  7. The artist or collective will participate in public programming related to the Residency (specific programs TBD).
  8. The artist, team leader, and/or members of the collective will participate in media interviews.
  9. The artist or collective will provide a technical description of the final work of art.
