4. Technical/Design Specifications

The final work of art submitted by the artist or collective must meet the following technical and design specifications:

  1. A maximum format of 150 cm wide by 250 cm high by 30 cm deep. Maximum weight of 100 kg. In the case of multi-part works, no individual section should exceed 150 cm wide by 200 cm high by 30 cm deep, with the total no larger than the maximum size of 150 cm wide by 250 cm high by 30 cm deep.
  2. The work should arrive at the War Museum ready to install, and must be reviewed in advance with the Museum’s Supervisor of Technical Services.
  3. The work may not include any physical artifact from the War Museum’s collection.
  4. The work must be easy to protect from touching with a clear acrylic panel or an acrylic case, which will be provided by the War Museum.
  5. The work may tour as part of a travelling version of the exhibition, and must be easy for our Technical Services team to install without requiring the presence of the artist.
  6. The work should be made of stable materials that will not deteriorate during the display period, including the exhibition at the War Museum and a possible travelling exhibition period of up to three years.
  7. The War Museum retains final authority on the display and presentation of all elements in the exhibition. It may choose not to display elements, including full works developed through this Artists Residency Program.
  8. The artist or collective retains full ownership of the work during and after its presentation as part of the exhibition and possible tour. The War Museum will maintain full insurance on the work until the work is returned to the artist or collective.
